Welcome to Streetsafe

2009 LOVE BARROW COMMUNITY AWARDS 

There are many projects and people within our community that go un-rewarded for the inspiring work and services they provide within their community. By rewarding this work we are able to promote active citizenship and also the amount of work that is done within the Borough. This year, the Northwest Evening mail have added three extra categories which look at paying tribute to professional people who work in and around the Borough. The awards consisted of the following categories: 

Young Citizen of the Year
Citizen of the Year
Group or Project of the Year
Carer of the year
Teacher of the year
999 hero of the year

What is Streetsafe?

Streetsafe is an ongoing community project which aims to tackle local community problems at a local level. Streetsafe operations are held all over the South of Cumbria covering Barrow Borough Council and South Lakeland District Council.

We have visited 13,900 homes.   Why?
We have listened to people for over 2,201 hours, how?
We have installed 694 smoke alarms. How can I get a free one?
We have removed Graffiti and fly tips. 
I have some in my neighbourhood, how do i get it removed for free?
We have provided on going support for active citizens.
I am interested, how do I get involved?
We provided funding and training for projects.  Can I get funding?
Given out 175,000 pieces of information. What do we give out?
Received 225,000 pieces of actionalble information.
